This small group ministry is dedicated to exploring ways we can fulfill the United Church of Canada’s Reconciliation and Indigenous Justice goals, https://www.united-church.ca/social-action/justice-initiatives/reconciliation-and-indigenous-justice as well as connecting with the syiyaya Reconciliation Movement here on the Sunshine Coast.  syiyaya: means ”family and friends” in the Shishalh language.

A group from St. John’s comes together to learn about Indigenous issues, to exchange information about upcoming events, to plan for such things as worship for Indigenous Sunday, and to keep the congregation informed about Indigenous initiatives and events to which we in the community at large are invited.

A reading group started through this Ministry meets once per month to read and discuss books written by Indigenous authors.

If this small group Ministry is something you would like to participate in, please contact the church office for more information on how to get involved.  All are welcome to join our team as family and friends, "syiyaya".
