Luke 1:76-79, 3:1-6

The season of advent begins with hope and moves us to peace the second Sunday.  Dianne Baker and Alan collaborated on a worship service that focuses our attention on peace in Palestine. Eleven months ago, during a Sunday morning worship service at St. John’s United Church, Dianne was blessed on her way to serve another term with the World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine and Israel.  From January to the end of March, Dianne lived in the old city of Jerusalem, and worked in the EAPPI offices supporting and training EAs from across the globe to engage in protective presence and witness in Palestinian Villages across ‘The West Bank’ and in Occupied East Jerusalem. In this worship service, in a reflection on the call to peace, Dianne shared some of the things she brought home, both the internal learning and the beautiful artifacts, and the urging for the global community to ‘hear a voice in the wilderness’ calling us to prepare for Peace.
