Tuesday, May 1, 2012
The United Church of Canada today issued a news release announcing the report of its Working Group on Israel/Palestine Policy. The report will be considered by the United Church's 41st General Council, which meets in Ottawa, August 11 to 18, 2012. Until that time the working group's report is not policy of the church, and its proposals are solely recommendations.

St. John's United Church is:
- we are an Affirming Ministry of the United Church of Canada
- we are an inclusive community of faith
- we follow Jesus' example of unconditional love
- we strive to accept and nurture each other as we are
- we welcome the ministry and participation of all persons of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, differing abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, age, and economic circumstance
About where we live, work and worship:
- our church building is located in a residential neighborhood three blocks from Davis Bay in the District of Sechelt on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast
- we are approximately 50km northwest of Vancouver via a 40 minute ferry trip and a 25 minute drive along the Sunshine Coast Highway.
- Sechelt takes its name from the Coast Salish Shishalh people, who first settled the area thousands of years ago, and means "land between two waters"
What's the worship like on Sunday morning:
- our choir, led by Janice Brunson, offers two selections and the congregation is accompanied in traditional and contemporary hymn singing by Ken Dalgleish, usually on the piano - you'll love it
- some people come a little dressy, most casual but no one has worn a tie with shorts yet
- you'll love the people and their involvement with the community
- after the service there is a time for coffee, tea and goodies for those who want to stick around and chat or have a caring conversation
- the minister provides leadership in caring for the world God loves
